About the Designer

MCs Stanislava Blatnik is a Slovenian fashion designer and visual artist with more than thirty years of experience in fashion, clothing culture, design theory, and visual communication.
Her work exists at the intersection of aesthetics, design, and storytelling, creating projects that connect people, spaces, and artistic experiences.

The professional and artistic work of this University Graduate Engineer of Textile and Fashion Design (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering)
and Master of Science in Design Theory (University of Ljubljana, Academy of Fine Arts and Design) is based on exploring the relationship between the body, materials, identity, and the cultural context of clothing.

For more than three decades, the central focus of her professional practice has been original fashion design and the creation of unique custom-made garments.
Through a direct dialogue with each individual client, she has developed a distinctive design language for special occasions, combining aesthetic sensitivity, technical excellence, and an understanding of clothing as a carrier of personal stories and identity.

Her designs are characterised by an artistic interpretation of clothing as a wearable work of art. In her creative process, she combines traditional textile techniques such as draping, layering, and textile pattern design with non-textile materials including porcelain, shells, aluminium, steel, and glass.
She is particularly recognised for incorporating Idrija lace, a protected geographical indication, into contemporary fashion and artistic concepts. Her creations often transcend the boundaries of fashion, entering the fields of performance art, visual arts, and spatial installations.

She has presented her collections at numerous international fashion events, exhibitions, and showcases across Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
Her creations have received multiple awards, been selected as national costumes for Miss Universe and Miss World competitions, and featured in international thematic fashion and art exhibitions.

Alongside fashion design, she is also an author of professional and academic articles on fashion and clothing culture, a costume designer and stylist for television, music, and stage productions, as well as a curator and organiser of cultural and artistic events.
She is a founding member and long-time president of the D.tajl Association of Creators. She has collaborated with universities, media organisations, and numerous cultural institutions in Slovenia and abroad.
Her work encompasses more than three decades of creative practice in fashion and culture, as well as the development of creative platforms and urban revitalisation projects, including the D.tajl Concept Store.

Today, she works as an independent cultural creator, connecting fashion, art, music, and space. Through collaborations with the Jazz Ravne programme and the Slovenian Jazz Showcase Festival, she creates visual identities and communication materials for concerts and festival events.
Her work combines design, photography, and storytelling, exploring the dialogue between people, clothing, nature, music, and space to create distinctive visual expressions and identities for cultural projects.
